Checkerboard Montgomery, LLC. was created through a partnership between Donnell Thompson, Ronald Wooten, and GlobalVest Inc.

Donnell Thompson and Ronald Wooten are lifelong friends who two met in high school at the NC Shrine Bowl in 1976. They both went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they were part of the 1977 and 1980 ACC Championship teams. Wooten was drafted into the National Football League by the New England Patriots and Thompson by the Baltimore Colts, later to become the Indianapolis Colts.
GlobalVest Inc is an international service, consulting and investment firm that provides specialized advisory, managerial, financial, technology, and investment services to businesses and individuals. The company provides administrative services and portfolio investment supports in areas including retail, franchising, technology, and manufacturing into African and United States markets. Checkerboard Montgomery owns and operates Checkers restaurants in the Alabama market. Fast Foodies know the deal with Checkers/Rally’s iconic drive-thru restaurants best known for/ their tasty burgers and famous fries. With over 500 stores across the U.S., Checkers/Rally’s is ranked top 50 in Franchise Business Review’s 2018 Franchise Satisfaction Awards. Checkers acquired Rally’s in 1999, where Rally’s was predominate in the market in a number of states. Checkers/Rally’s has the same menu items and stand by the quality and superb flavor of the food. Checker’s/Rally’s Corporate honored Operator and Partner Donnell Thompson with the Turnaround Award at the 2020 Franchise Awards ceremony for his work in Birmingham, Alabama.

LEADERSHIP
Donnell Thompson
Mr. Thompson has been in business for over 30 years with previous ownership of several franchises, including McDonald’s restaurants, Zaxby’s restaurants, and Choice Hotels, and Marriott Hotels. His most recent franchise experience includes Checkers/Rally’s Restaurants. Mr. Thompson started with his first McDonald’s in 1992. He focuses on building strong management teams and is involved in all aspects of the business operations. Mr. Thompson communicates regularly with his management team and conducts frequent site visits to his business locations to ensure quality standards are maintained, customer needs are satisfied, and customer expectations are exceeded. Mr. Thompson graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, after which he was drafted by the Baltimore Colts, later becoming the Indianapolis Colts. He played in the National Football League from 1981 to 1992. Thompson is a realtor in the state of South Carolina. He serves as the business developer in researching potential sites for business locations and serves as operating partner.
Ron Wooten
Mr. Wooten has over 20 years of experience in managing successful, growth oriented businesses. He has expertise in business strategy, financial structuring and risk management, operational optimization and governance. He is currently the managing partner of NovaQuest Capital Management in Raleigh, NC. Mr. Wooten has over 15 years of healthcare/financing experience and most recently served as President of the former NQ business unit of Quintiles. From its formation in 2000 through November 2010, he led the NQ business unit in creating and managing unique relationships and structured finance investment transactions with more than $2 billion in gross commitments capital or services to companies of all sizes. As Executive Vice President of Quintiles, Mr. Wooten managed Quintiles’ customer-partnering arrangements worldwide. He also served on the Quintiles Board of Directors from January 2008 through November 2010. Mr. Wooten’s previous experience includes nine years with First Union Securities, where he served as a Managing Director of Investment Banking. He was also a member of the New England Patriots football team from 1981 to 1990. Mr. Wooten received his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned an MBA from Boston University.
Toluntola Ademosu
Ms. Ademosu is a founding member of GlobalVest Inc. She is an accomplished business manager and homemaker exemplifying genuine professional, administrative, and leadership skills. An excellent coordinator with vast experience in logistics and people management, she has effectively harnessed her experiences and giftings to achieve an ideal family-work-life balance. Ms. Ademosu began her career with Total Nigeria Plc, in the logistics and delivery management department. She supervised fleet coordination, Automotive Gasoline (AGO), and Motor spirit (PMS) inventory. She worked with the team that developed optimal product management and fleet coordination strategy. Ms. Ademosu left the employment to set up the family property development and management business, Willedge Limited. She served as director of administration and logistics. She has a degree in Geology from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she obtained a Higher National diploma. She completed her master’s in business administration from the Business School, Netherlands.
Akinwande Ademosu
Mr. Ademosu is a founding member of GlobalVest Inc. He is an accomplished professional in retail and consumer finance and has worked in financial services institutions for over two decades. His core skills are business strategy formulation and execution, business risk analysis, goal-oriented, technology application, process optimization, and organizational leadership. In 2007, he led the start-up team that developed and birthed the first and still the leading non-bank structured consumer lending business in Nigeria – Credit Direct Limited (A member of FCMB Group Plc).
Mr. Ademosu developed and executed the strategic roadmap that grew the company from only himself to a company with over 1,000 employees serving over one million customers all over Nigeria, West Africa. His work across Nigeria and beyond earned him the Harvard Business School Association of Nigeria Leadership Award for General Management and Consumer Finance Company CEO of the year consecutively for many years. His company (Credit Direct) was equally awarded the best Consumer Finance Company 2018, 2019, and 2020. He has featured in the Nigeria top 50 leaders’ list in the 2020 guardian newspaper. He has made an appearance in a Forbes Africa report. Mr. Ademosu is currently President of the Finance Houses Association of Nigeria and a Fellow of several professional bodies. He has a Degree in Economics, Master’s in business administration, and an executive MBA (Trium eMBA – jointly issued by London School of Economics, HEC Paris and NYU Stern), and qualification in General Management Program (Harvard Business School) and Fintech specialization from Oxford/Said UK. He is currently pursuing his doctoral degree in business at Georgia State University, United States.
